As the holidays approach, there’s no better way to get into the spirit of the season than with the incredible Lisa Dawn Miller. She is a festive icon with a musical legacy as spectacular as Santa’s workshop; she is not your average singer-songwriter. We promise that this Christmas season wouldn’t be the same without Lisa’s newest EP, “My Favorite Time of Year,” which is set to release soon.
Let us celebrate Lisa’s recent accomplishments for a minute before we open her musical present to us. Her performance of “For Once in My Life – The Songs of Ron Miller” at 54 Below in New York City left the audience spellbound. Talk about incredible reviews of celebrity visitors, including composer Bryan Wells, actor/comedian Sandy Hackett, and Broadway phenomenon Major Attaway. Not only that, but Oliver Richman, Lisa’s son, also onto the stage and sang a remarkable rendition of “For Once in My Life.” Lisa is planning to travel her performance in 2024–2025 after such a spectacular start, bringing Christmas cheer to American cities faster than you can say “Jingle Bells.”
But Lisa is more than simply a songbird—she’s a multifaceted guru. She has been performing as “Frank’s One Love” in the musical “Sandy Hackett’s Rat Pack,” which is now in its fourteenth season. What a long life! Her talent is unbounded.
Lisa is a multi-talented artist in the music business in addition to her incredible musical career. She operates her own song publishing business, LDM Worldwide, produces and directs “My Buddy,” and even has a record label, J-Wall Records. Not only that, but she oversees the Aurora Miller Legacy Songtrust, the Ron Miller Songbook, and the Ron Miller Legacy Songtrust as its managing partner. Does this woman have any limitations?
Let’s now discuss the main attraction of the evening, which is Lisa’s “My Favorite Time of Year” EP. It is like a basket of festive treats for your ears. “My Favorite Time of Year,” the title tune, will get you in the mood to dance as you decorate the tree. It seems like a lot of fun to deck the hallways.
A warm cup of cocoa for your heart, “We’ll Always Have Christmas Eve,” transports you to a comfortable place in the past. The good ol’ days!
The standout track here, however, is “A Miracle,” which was inspired by her crippled niece Angelique. It’s a tribute to the strength of the human spirit, co-written by Lisa and Mark Matson. You’re going to need Kleenex, so prepare them.
In addition, Lisa honours the past with the lovely song “A Christmas Truce,” which remembers the World War I truces. A ceasefire between you and your unused fruitcake may be compared to this achingly lovely song.
Of course, there’s “Someday at Christmas,” a beloved song by her father, Ron Miller, that Lisa has adapted to her own style. It seems like a contemporary take on the ageless lesson of Christmas togetherness.
“With all the chaos in the world, coming together to share special moments is more profound than ever,” says Lisa herself. My music should be able to spread happiness and love.
Lisa has two new songs in her sleeve for the big finale: “There You Are,” a heartfelt ballad about love and sorrow, and “I’ve Been to Paradise,” an EDM dance track that will make you boogie. You’re in for a year-round treat with Lisa’s wide range of musical abilities.
The “My Favorite Time of Year” EP by Lisa Dawn Miller is, in a word, the holiday music you never knew you needed. Your holidays are going to be much more enjoyable because to her musical talent and her family’s tradition. With a little help from Lisa’s melodic magic and maybe a dash of comedy, let’s make this Christmas season the most joyful one ever!
